Ultherapy® is the Gold Standard treatment for non-surgical lifting and tightening and is a favourite of celebrities like, brand ambassador, Tess Daly. Ultherapy® can be used in any areas where skin laxity is a concern, but it is particularly effective for lifting, toning and tightening the skin on the face, jowls and neck area and is also commonly used to target loose skin and lines and wrinkles on the chest area (décolletage).

Ultherapy® and laser treatments use different forms of energy and target different concerns. The Ultherapy® device is used to tackle anti-ageing concerns from the inside out, generally in one single treatment. As a medical practice, we do all we can to minimise any pain or discomfort to our patients. Most patients do not describe Ultherapy® treatments as painful but may experience heat energy along with mild to moderate momentary discomfort and/or tingling sensations during the procedure, while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. Everyone has a different level of tolerance for pain and/or discomfort so some people may be more sensitive than others. Your practitioner will discuss options for appropriate pain relief with you at your consultation. Generally, to make the procedure as comfortable as possible you will be asked to arrive an hour ahead of your appointment for preventative pain relief to be administered. Pain relief may take the form of anesthetic injections, nerve block and/or topical numbing cream.

Ultherapy® uses ultrasound energy to stimulate natural collagen and elastin production in the skin. As it takes time for your body to produce new collagen and elastin, results with Ultherapy® are gradual and progressive. You should start to see noticeable results around 4-6 weeks after treatment. Skin lifting and tightening will continue to gradually improve for 2-3 months following Ultherapy® treatment, with optimal results being achieved after 6 months.

For most patients, a single Ultherapy® treatment can give a lasting result for over a year. However, depending on the extent of the skin laxity being treated and your body’s own biological response to treatment and collagen building, some patients may benefit from additional treatments. Ultherapy® is a non-invasive treatment as the ultrasound energy is delivered in the deeper sub dermal tissue layers, where collagen and elastin are produced, and it completely by-passes the surface of the skin. As it is completely non-invasive, there should be no need for downtime following treatment. You should be able to go about your normal activities and there are no special post-treatment measures to follow.

As with all aesthetic procedures, there can be potential side effects. These include redness for a few hours or slight swelling for a few days following the procedure. Tingling or tenderness to the touch is possible for a few weeks after the procedure.
